Soaring on Angels’ Wings® empowers individuals navigating grief to heal, rebuild, and rediscover purpose. Through compassionate support, education, community programs, and meaningful resources, we remind individuals and families that they do not have to walk through grief alone.
Mission
What We Do
Soaring on Angels’ Wings® is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in New Haven, Connecticut. We provide grief support for adults, at no cost to participants when funding is available, through Community Healing Circles, Navigating Grief: You Can Live Again™ workshops, and one-on-one grief support; practical help for families in the first days of loss through the Compassion in Action Initiative and Family Assistance Fund; suicide prevention education for organizations; and community speaking on grief, healing, resilience, faith, and purpose.
Our story
From Dr. Tracy J. Dancy, Founder and President
I am the mother of two daughters who are no longer here in the way I want them to be. Jasmine Shevalle Dancy, my Jazzy, died at seven years old. Shanyai Emani Dancy died by suicide at nineteen. Pink and green were Shanyai’s favorite colors. Pink and purple were Jazzy’s. Now they are all of ours, and they are the colors of this organization.
I know what it feels like to have your life change in an instant and then be expected to keep living when you do not know how. I remember the loneliness after the calls stopped, the questions with no answers, the birthdays and holidays, and the weight of it all. I remember what I needed in those moments: a place to be honest, genuine understanding, practical support, and someone to remind me I was not the only one.
I turned my pain into purpose because I do not want anyone to walk through grief by themselves. I am living through grief, not living in it. Soaring on Angels’ Wings® honors my daughters’ lives and legacies by helping other people heal, rebuild, rediscover purpose, and believe that they can live again.

What we believe
Grief Is Simply Love Remembering
- Grief is not a deadline. There is no required timetable for healing, and no one should be made to feel they are doing it wrong.
- We are not moving on; we are moving forward. We keep living without leaving our loved ones or their memories behind.
- Grief teaches us to carry love differently. The relationship changes. The love does not disappear.
- You can miss them and still live. Sorrow and hope can exist at the same time.
Our foundation
A Christian Foundation, and Every Person Welcome
Soaring on Angels’ Wings® was built on faith, and faith is never used here to silence anyone’s sadness, anger, confusion, or questions. You can have faith and still be hurting. You can have no faith and still belong in the circle. Everyone is welcomed and supported regardless of faith or background.
How we work
Patience Instead of Pressure
- We meet people where they are.
- We do not rush anyone through grief or hand anyone a timeline.
- We do not use clichés, and we do not explain anyone’s grief away.
- We never suggest that healing means forgetting.
- We support the whole person: emotionally, spiritually, socially, and practically.
- We say "died by suicide," never "committed suicide," because words carry judgment or they carry care.
Founder and President
Dr. Tracy J. Dancy
Dr. Tracy J. Dancy is the Founder and President of Soaring on Angels’ Wings®. She holds a PhD in Christian Counseling and is a certified QPR Gatekeeper Instructor, a trained presenter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s L.E.T.S. Save Lives™ program, and a suicide prevention advocate. She facilitates every Community Healing Circle and workshop, provides one-on-one grief support, and speaks to faith communities, schools, nonprofits, and workplaces across Connecticut on grief, healing, resilience, faith, purpose, and suicide loss awareness. She completed the 2025-2026 Neighborhood Leadership cohort through The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven.

Dr. Tracy J. Dancy
Founder and President
Dr. Tracy J. Dancy is the Founder and President of Soaring on Angels’ Wings®, a New Haven nonprofit providing grief support, education, and community connection. Inspired by the lives of her daughters, Jasmine Shevalle Dancy and Shanyai Emani Dancy, she created a space to help others navigating loss heal, rebuild, and rediscover purpose. An author, speaker, and grief advocate with a PhD in Christian Counseling, Dr. Tracy leads with the message: “Grief may have changed your story, but it does not get the final chapter. You can live again.”
Monique Denton
Vice President
Monique Denton is a senior human resources executive, leadership strategist, author, speaker, and certified life transformation coach with more than 20 years of experience in leadership and organizational development. Monique leads with compassion, purpose, and a deep commitment to helping others feel seen, supported, and empowered.
Chundra Daniels
Secretary
Chundra Daniels is a ministry leader, creative entrepreneur, and servant of God who serves as a Church Secretary and Secretary on the Board of Lily of the Valley Ministries, Inc. She is also the founder and owner of Chundra Lynn’s Designs, where she expresses her creativity through graphic design, photography, canvas art, oil painting, and handmade crafts. Chundra holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Entrepreneurship with a minor in Pastoral Care and is committed to using her gifts to serve God, encourage others, and make a positive impact in her community.

Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. The nonprofit operates independently of the founder’s personal and professional activities, with its own board, finances, programs, and accounts.
